No, it will eventually evolve to hearty, dire or elder.

Additional info:
Hearty = more HP, less damage output = good tank
Dire = less HP, more damage = nice for damage dealing
Elder = pretty much 50/50 damage and HP

I find that barrage/pet runs in ToPK is one of the best places to level pets. lvl3-7or8 in one run, lol. 4-5 runs later and he's maxed. the last couple take a run or two, not sure on the exact times. But it's fun taking in low level pets and leveling them like mad. As long as only one pet is low level like that, it won't hurt group performance much. besides, more corpses that way too.

I've max leveled 3 pets and all of them turned out hearty. It's the easiest evolution. Just leave BM at 0 and let it die a LOT and it's almost garaunteed to go hearty.
For dire, you have to have the pet be doing the majority of the damage, ie, you sit there while the pet kills everything. Atleast i thnk so. There is a very good and thurough guide here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...ide-id1575.php
